park. >> kyndell: it is a thrifty thursday. this halloween you can save a few bucks by using your leftover pumpkins as beauty products. youtube blogger heather mariano will show us how. >> announcer: news 3 starts right now. >> kyndell: we're following breaking news. u.s. 95 shut down between boulder highway and flamingo after a man is hit by a semi-truck. >> dana: he got hit just a short time ago. police say he was trying to get away from an off news 3's sergio avila joining us live from the scene. you said the last time we checked in the freeway was shut down. >> reporter: it's going be like that for, we don't know how long at this point, as metro continues this investigation. we'll push in so you can take a look. what we're being told is what you just said. this was a suspect that metro believed was involved in a shooting at the miracle mile

crime which led to this person. still don't know their i.d. and that person ended up running on to the freeway and was hit by that truck. no word on that person's condition. like you said, the highway is shut down. if i see you we can turn around -- right now looks like it cleared up quite a bit. traffic has been sort of at a standstill -- stop and go here as the lights change and cars get stuck trying to get on and off the all the onramps on shut down on boulder highway and the freeway is closed from flamingo to boulder highway. if you have plans to be in the 95 on in this area try to find another route because traffic is going to be a mess as metro continues this investigation. we'll have more updates on this coming up on later editions of news 3. sergio avila, news 3 back to you. >> dana: thank you. it's been a very busy noon. we have more breaking news.

arizona, about a 2 hour drive south of las vegas. according to the kingman daily newspaper -- you are looking at their website -- a police officer has been shot, is in serious but stable condition at kingman regional medical center. we understand the police officer was trying to serve a search warrant in the 1700 block of miami avenue. if you know that area, a shootout ensued between the officer and the resident at the house. the resident was shot and killed. we have a c later in this newscast and on "news 3 live at three." >> kyndell: at least one person is dead and dozens others injured after a train crashed into a commuter station in hoboken new jersey. >> dana: we had this as breaking news around 6:00 this morning. this was at the height of rush hour. chris pollone has more from the scene. >> reporter: a devastating scene in new jersey's hoboken train station just outside of

into the station. it happened quickly and without warning. passengers on the train thrown wildly. up to 100 people injured. stunned passengers staggered out. >> the people in front of me were badly injured and we heard people screaming they were trapped. >> reporter: many passengers were able to make it out of the train to safety. >> i thought people would be pinned where we were but we were able to kind of climb over seats and get out the window. >> reporter: according to witnesses, the train carrying about 250 passengers failed to terminal. >> it came in at a high rate of speed, went through the bumper block, through the air, took the ceiling out. it was just -- horrific. >> reporter: the station one of the busiest in the new york city area is used by thousands of commuters who travel back and forth daily from new jersey to new york city. rail service has been suspended in and out of hoboken as the investigation into the cause of the crash gets underway. chris pollone, nbc news,

train is in critical condition. officials with the national transportation safety board in washington, d.c. say they're so-called go team will arrive at the crash site later today to determine the exact cause of that crash. >> dana: that's a big question, right. why did this happen? commuters especially want to know. they want to know they'll be safe. time to check out the weather forecast. kelly curran, i see clouds behind you. is there any rain out there? >> kelly: there sure is. most of it is confined our local picture. this is the radar where we are seeing showers popping up on the local mountain mountains. the bulk of the precipitation down into arizona. even a pretty good sized thunderstorm cell to the southeast of flag staff. here is a time-lapse look at what we've seen so far this morning in pahrump. we have had sprinkles, even virga where it doesn't reach the ground. that's what we've seen moving through. most of the cloud cover, most of the shower activity confined to our local mountains.

and at richard brian elementary school, it is 85. now let's turn to one of my favorite events here in southern nevada. something i've gone to every year. >> dana: ur talking about art in the park in boulder city. i know you used to live there. you have only been doing this for 54 years. not you two. we've ever had for art. over 350 booths. lots of food, lots of entertainment. >> dana: it's not just art but we're getting an idea what it looks like. you have lots of different styles of art. linda, tell me about the food. that's what i am really interested in. you can tell by looking at me. i like to eat. what kind of food are you going to have for the people? >> we have 20 food vendors this year. and we try to make sure that they aren't they want. just like everybody has the kind of art they want. for everybody and there's also a beer garden. it's very popular. i run he beer garden. [ laughter ] >> dana: it's supposed to be close to 90 this weekend which is perfect. but a cold cup of brew might cool you down a little bit. is this art for sale? >> absolutely. all the artists have come in and the art is for sale.

you buy raffle tickets and you can win anywhere from a thousand dollar piece of art to a $7,000 sculpture. >> dana: give me an idea on the prices of this art. a lot of us don't have money to spend necessarily. but what would be the low end to the high end? >> i would think the low end is probably -- you can buy art and there is jewelry which is a lot of art. anywhere from $10 up to thousands of do >> and there crafts. pump kinz and gourds are very popular and decorations for christmas and halloween and thanksgiving. >> dana: do you charge people to get in? >> no. >> dana: it's free. walk around. tell me the park it's located in. >> escalante, bicentennial. >> dana: nine to five saturday and sunday. breezy on sunday but not bad. saturday might be the better weather day. at least according to kelly. ladies thanks for coming in.

and some showers popping up here too. most of the activity is over the higher terrain. that's where we're seeing this -- mainly terrain driven showers today. and they're light. so you are seeing some in the spring mountains, the sheep mountains. quite a bit of activity, again, over the local mountains in lincoln county. the showers moving north and east and most of them fizzling out. isolated showers really a possibility for us today. better chances in the mountains. mount charleston you do have a your high around 65. boulder city today 87. caliente 79. primm 89. overnight tonight. indian springs you are going down to 62 for the low. and laughlin 71 degrees. here's a look at the 7-day forecast. we are keeping that chance, slight chance for showers in the forecast today. most of us staying dry with partly sunny skies. a high around 89. tomorrow it is going to warm up. mostly sunny. 91 in las vegas. the weekend?

out pretty warm. a lot of sunshine. 90 degrees. but the winds are going to start picking up in the afternoon. that will continue on sunday. we're looking at gusts up around 40 miles an hour for sunday into monday. temperatures gonna take a pretty big dip. we're talking 73 for the high on monday and fifties for overnight lows next week. if you want to go to art in the park this weekend the best weather for the event is probably going to be saturday and early in the day. >> dana: time for today. look behind us. it doesn't look real. but this is real. this is the capital of iceland. and people who are familiar with this probably know exactly what we're talking about. >> kyndell: oh yes. that's right we're talking about the northern lights. residents were asked to keep their homes dark between 10:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. to get a clear view of the national phenomenon. tourists and locals snapped amazing photos and videos of the green lit sky sharing them with

>> reporter: it was the playful spirit for which he was so well loved that the trees and pavement outside that house have become a memorial. the owner explained a couple years ago when he's left it there. >> i'm not about to change anything. >> reporter: some speculated one reason the house became a memorial is that's no official memorial to robin williams in san francisco. some of his oldest friends are trying to change that. >> we want to rename sharon since he spent a lot of time here at comedy day. >> reporter: he secretly funded the free comedy show for years. now it's organizers are taking donations change the signs to say robin williams meadow. >> because everybody misses him. and comedy day just hasn't been the same without him. >> reporter: as for the house? four bedrooms, four-and-a-half baths, asking four-and-a-half million dollars. the several quite fittingly is a
